Snowshoe, cross country ski or on foot - 5 shot muzzleloader course
- Primitive firestarting challenge
Flint and steel, charred cloth, firebow or other friction methods using natural materials
Spectators welcome and beginner contestants are encouraged to try. Ask us about our primitive skills instruction - we can help you get ready to showcase your skills. Call us to get registered! Also at the Coach Stop Inn that day: Our restaurant featuring elk on the menu and maple recipes, Dutch oven cook-off, plenty of guided outdoor activities, fun for the whole family!! There will be wildlife demonstrations and a seminars on trapping beaver and primitive bowmaking. IN ADDITION there will be fun and educational activities on Sunday. Choose an hour horseback ride or a one hour nature hike. Anyone can join us, but be sure to sign up early. Some activities may not be available with last minute bookings. OVERNIGHT PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE - Spend the night in the motel right on the grounds, minutes away from the PA Grand Canyon. Package includes two nights stay, breakfast for two days, and dinner on Saturday night for just $119 per person. (Child rates are available; based on double occupancy). ALSO, package holders will receive a discounted rates on all Sunday activities.

Live and sleep in the privacy of an authentic tipi dwelling and enjoy the mystique and the spiritual experience it offers. We also offer less traditional bedding but comfortable; foam mattresses or cots. Come to the Pennsylvania Mountains and enjoy the scenic beauty. You’ll never forget it! Your hosts will be Shawn and Cindy Gardner who have been doing shows for 16 years including: Pow-wows, Stone Tech., Rendezvous, Trad. Bow Shoots, just to name a few. Shawn has instructed also in bow making. They have done extensive research in the Native American background and Cindy is of Native descent.  On display will be some museum quality Native American artifacts including, but not limited to, arrowheads, pottery, bows & arrows, stone axes and jewelry etc., some dating back thousands of years.
The tipi’s are decorated in the native style with blankets, furs, backrests, etc. which add to the cozy charm for a weekend retreat. Instruction Includes:
• Woods walk looking for and learning about native plants and how the Native Americans used them: • Edibles • Medicinal • Fiber & Cordage • Dyes • Make a wooden bowl or spoon the Native American way to take home and cherish – a future heirloom. • You will be making your own pine needle native basket in the traditional style. By obtaining these skills, you might just get hooked on a lifelong pastime. • Make your own Native American rawhide rattle. Learn how this wonderful material has many uses in Native culture. You can then decorate your rattle to suit your own creative style with feathers, beads and paint.
Activities Include:
• Woods Walk – Learn the intricacies of nature; the sights and sounds. Enjoy the awe inspiring world we live in. • Try your throwing skills when we learn to use the Atlatl. This ancient spear throwing tool is what ancient man hunted with on this continent thousands of years ago. • Tomohawk th rowing – You will be able to make it stick into a log almost every time. Lots of enjoyment for all ages. • We will enjoy primitive cooking on Sat. night , cooking traditional native foods over a campfire with limited cookware and making some great tasting food – you’ll love our Indian fry bread. • A lot of leisure time is available for just plain old relaxing, hiking, birding or perfecting the skills you have learned.
